Editing, Proofreading, and Research

My mom worked for several years as an editor and proofreader. So attention to detail was drilled into me with loving insistence when I was a child. If I asked her a question about a particular subject, instead of giving me the easy answer she’d point me in the direction of the library to look it up myself. That used to annoy me to no end. But it forced me to become more self-reliant and autonomous…long before I learned what “autonomous” meant. All of that early childhood training is now paying off nicely. When my clients need documents proofed and edited, or topics researched and analyzed, I can bring years of skill and experience to the table.

A few years ago, I edited and revised dozens of pages of materials that were used for a Harvard University symposium on technology and innovation. I recently researched the impact of Colorado’s cannabis legalization, and analyzed the pros and cons of the social, health, and economic impact. Then I was tasked with the responsibility of spotting inconsistencies and errors in more than 1,000 pages and 500,000 words of legal documents. A company that facilitates land conservation projects needed that meticulous work done, before submitting documents to the IRS.

Whether you need help rewriting your memoir, editing a press release, or conducting and organizing research for your boss or client, I can assist you.
